In this mini-workshop, we will be constructing and decorating a paper parfleche modelled after a rawhide parfleche which was a large, folded, envelope-like container used by North American Plains Indians to carry their belongings when they moved to follow the buffalo across the plains. Colourful and beautifully decorated, the parfleche is considered as much a piece of art as it was a practical tool.
