November’s Inkdrops

Next meeting: December 4, 2019

(Doors open at 5:30 to set up tables and chairs. Meeting begins at 6:00)

Letters & Lines Theme: “Joy”

Learn to Letter: Lively Versal ‘J’ for Joy

Project: Seasonal Cards for groups and organizations with whom we have a relationship.

Surprise Project: Pauline and Jeanine have a fun gift project for you to make and take home.

Come and join us for a fun-filled evening. There will be some sweet snacks, too!

Our room was filled with 34 enthusiastic ECS members requiring an extra table! We continued to grow our membership with two new people attending our November meeting.

Learn to Letter:

Gail led us through some warm-up strokes and practice shapes to prepare for the Lively Versals we made by following the step-by-step exemplar. These were based on Sherri Keisel’s ‘Kersals’. Once the letters and backgrounds were completed, they were mounted on coloured card stock, ready to be given to a friend. Perhaps some will end up in envelopes for the December exchange!

Supplies

Katherine had a number of monoline, Pilot Parallel Pens, and water brushes for sale, and created some

card/envelope packages for members to buy. She brought a number of her personal cards to demonstrate a

variety of possibilities and encourage our creativity.

OUTREACH

Sunday, December 1    Bountiful Farmers’ Market     8:30 AM to 5 PM

Thank you to Pauline, Jeanine, and Gail, who spent two separate sessions to create 474 rustic, earth-tone gift tags to offer to the public at our display table. We will be lettering the “To” person’s name and are suggesting a donation of $1 each, with the money going to our Write On Wendy bursary program, as we hope to support our members in their bids to attend ABC 2020 in Red Deer next August.

We are required to be there to set up at 8:30 AM and must stay until 5 PM. So far, only Amy has signed up for a 2-hour shift. We need several more people who are able to write names on the tags. (You know who you are, you letter-lovers!) We also welcome those of you who do not feel that you are able to letter, but can talk up the benefits of becoming an ECS member! Please email Gail asap to sign up and lend a hand at this exciting Outreach project. gfournier@telus.net
